“Shola, Son, you must be a buffalo. You must not be a cow” said Mr. Shola Richards at the Global Leadership Summit 2021. He spoke with a great smile but his story actually started with tears. He was sharing the suicidal thoughts he had years ago. His father, whether he knew Shola’s struggles or not, told Shola to be a buffalo, not a cow. And he explained his father's reasoning. When a storm comes, a cow will run away to avoid it but it only prolongs the struggles and pain. In the end it damages the cow. A buffalo, on the other hand, runs toward the storm and puts the best effort to get through the storm. It is challenging for a short period, but in the end, the buffalo finds safety and gains strength.
What a lesson this is! How often do we run away from the unavoidable storm? Are we afraid of the pain the storm might bring? Are we convinced that we are not strong enough to get through the storm? How do we change how we think about our strength and abilities to face our challenges? If only we gathered up the courage to face it.
It's time for you to take an action!
